HKIAC Users’ Council Symposium

The HKIAC Users' Council Symposium gathered together lawyers, medical doctors, accountants and many professionals from various disciplines to share and exchange on hot topics in arbitration and mediation on a Friday afternoon. Mr Neil Kaplan, Past Chairman of HKIAC and Mr Michael Moser, Chairman of HKIAC moderated the first session on Getting Arbitration Started in Good Shape. This was followed by Roadmap to Time and Cost Efficient Arbitral Proceedings as moderated by Mr Peter Caldwell, Council Member of HKIAC and Mr Philip Yang, Immediate Past Chairman. Ms Teresa Cheng SC and Mr Robin Peard, Vice Chairpersons of HKIAC moderated on the topic of Securing the Enforcement of Awards. The last session on Mediation as the First Port of Call was moderated by Mr John Budge, Council Member of HKIAC and Mr Chan Bing Woon, Chairman of Hong Kong Mediation Council (“HKMC”). Positive and encouraging feedbacks were received from all participants. The symposium strengthened the knowledge and network among the HKIAC Users' Council Members and leading practitioners.

The creation of the HKIAC Users' Council was to promote the growing interest in arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution in the Asia-Pacific region, and to provide a platform for the exchange of information and experience among users of dispute settlement services.
