This programme is designed to give practitioners in the Asia Pacific region in particular an introduction into the best practices in the field of international arbitration by drawing reference to a number of Rules and Guidelines introduced by the International Bar Association which are widely used by arbitrators and practitioners across the world. The aim of the programme is also to secure feedback from delegates as to what improvements or reforms are needed, if any, to the existing Rules and Guidelines to better improve the practice of international arbitration in the Asia Pacific Region as part of the work of the newly created IBA Asia Pacific Arbitration Group.

Topics will include:

  • IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration
  • IBA Guidelines on Party Representation in International Arbitration and IBA Guidelines on Conflict of Interest in International Arbitration
  • Advocacy in international arbitration – discovery and witness handling in international arbitration
  • Civil and common law perspectives on advocacy in international arbitration
