HKTDC is piloting a new SME support initiative called “T-box”, short for Transformation Sandbox, a free 3-month programme that helps SMEs upgrade and transform their businesses. Any HK-registered company can apply and choose from our 4 transformation goals: branding, e-commerce, manufacturing/supply chain relocation or new market development. TDC support staff will recommend relevant training workshops, individual advisors, provide market and funding info and help companies access business opportunities.

On 25-26 May 2021, CIS Arbitration Forum will bring together leading practitioners, academics and arbitrators to discuss some of the most challenging problems which lawyers face in disputes related to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries of the CIS region. Baiju Vasani from Ivanyan and Partners and Ekaterina Kudelich from Ministry of Justice of Russia will deliver keynotes.


Four panels will feature recognised experts presenting their views and answering questions from the audience.

  • The first panel will feature practitioners from several jurisdictions who will give an update on the most recent legislative changes and trends related to commercial and investor-state arbitration and court practice involving foreign parties.
  • The second panel will examine Soviet and intra-CIS BITs, an often unexplored opportunity which the parties are increasingly using to establish jurisdiction of tribunals.
  • The topics discussed will include the application of Soviet BITs to former Soviet Republics, arbitration under Eurasian Economic Community treaties, the applicability of the Energy Charter Treaty to intra-CIS disputes.
  • The third panel will focus on sanctions how they affect dispute resolution in international arbitration and domestic proceedings.
  • The fourth panel will discuss law and practice related to the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judgments in key jurisdictions.


The conference is an opportunity to stay on top of the most recent developments related to the region, to establish new connections and demonstrate expertise.

MFP 2021 will be held virtually on 28 May 2021 (Friday). This year, the theme is "Mediate First: Anchoring the Future". The event comprises a full day forum ("Forum") and our "Mediate First" Pledge Ceremony ("Ceremony").

The three thematic panel sessions of the Forum will focus on the use of mediation to resolve disputes arising from private wealth management, healthcare and employees' compensation claims. We hope to attract audience, particularly from these three sectors, who wish to learn about the latest development of mediation to join the Forum to exchange views on these subject. The tentative programme for the MFP 2021 is attached for your information.

The Forum will be followed by the "Mediate First" Pledge Ceremony with a virtual networking session for representatives of businesses and organisations as well as mediation stakeholders to meet and network online. The Ceremony will include the "Mediate First" Pledge Star Logo Award Presentation Ceremony for existing pledgees and the Signing Ceremony of the "Mediate First" Pledge for our new pledgees.
