Financing your Dispute: The Use of Third Party Funding
HKIAC is pleased to co-organise a seminar with KLRCA. Given recent legislative developments in the region, users of arbitration have the option to use third party funding to offset the financial risk of pursuing their disputes. This event will provide a practical overview of the recent developments in Hong Kong regarding third party funding, explain the key features of third party funding and how to obtain it, and what parties and counsel should consider when seeking funding.
The seminar will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA).

HKIAC is pleased to co-organise a seminar with Silicon Valley Arbitration & Mediation Centre (SVAMC). Intellectual property (IP) is central to today’s knowledge economy, but rising disputes can interfere with the effective exploitation and protection of IP rights. Although IP disputes are traditionally resolved through court litigation, businesses have increasingly turned to mediation, arbitration or other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures, especially in cross border settings. The Arbitration (Amendment) Bill 2016 clarifying the arbitrability of IP disputes, solidifies Hong Kong’s position as a leading jurisdiction for resolving cross-border IP disputes. US and Hong Kong IP experts will share their views on resolving cross-border IP and technology disputes using ADR.Read more

Chasing the Money: Part One Pre-dispute asset tracing
Today the global economy is more closely intertwined than ever before, with parties taking advantage of free movement of capital to easily transfer assets across jurisdictions. The ability to "chase the money" is all the more important, especially in cross-border dispute resolution proceedings involving multiple legal systems, parties and complex corporate structures.
